Isn't it the worst when someone says "Ugh, this text looks like it was written by AI!"?
I know, mortifying! Especially if it wasn't...
I let AI proofread my texts for grammar, syntax and flow.
I also ask it to give me better synonyms to the stiff words or phrases I use as a non-native English speaker.
Unfortunately, ChatGPT's has its own “pet words and phrases” that are rarely used by native and non-native speakers alike, yet somehow are all the rage in online copy right now.
The worst part is that it inserts them at every convenient opportunity!
So if you are not careful, even a simple proofreading can turn your own text into a poorly written AI-generated copy.
Hence - a blacklist of words and phrases!
The main reason - the words and expressions from the list make the texts feel unnecessarily grand and corporate, and often simply out of proportion to what is being talked about.
Guide: Words and Phrases To Avoid In Marketing Texts
- Step 1. Click “New Project”
- Step 2. Add this file to the “Project files” directory.
- Step 3. Add the command below to the “Instructions” directory:
“When proofreading or editing my copy, always cross-check against blacklisted_words_expressions_AI.pdf, section “Excluded words and phrases”.
Do not suggest, reintroduce, or leave in any of these words. Instead, replace with fresher, more specific alternatives”.
- Step 4: Start working and adding chats to the project. It will automatically exclude all the words and phrases listed in the file in its answers within that project.
